Syrah restarts 350,000 mt/year graphite mine in Mozambique

2025-06-23

Melbourne, Australia – Syrah Resources Limited (ASX:SYR) announced on Thursday that its Balama natural graphite project in Mozambique has resumed production. Previously, the project was suspended due to access restrictions. With the resumption of on-site traffic in May 2025, the company quickly completed the return of personnel, equipment inspections and necessary maintenance. Syrah is gradually ramping up its production capacity and replenishing its inventory in a phased manner in preparation for high-volume shipments outside of China from the third quarter of 2025. Strong demand for natural graphite is being driven by tight global supply chains, and Syrah will prioritise international customer orders, faster product deliveries and faster payment collections.

The company continues to work closely with the Mozambican government and local communities to ensure the normal flow of people and goods and the stable operation of the Balama project. Force majeure events previously declared under the Balama Mining Agreement remain in effect until shipments are restored and the operating environment is assessed.
